Fox Business News creates another death match

by Charlie on September 9, 2009

Forget Death Panels. The event of the evening will be the Presidential Death Match. “In this corner we have B. Hussein Obama, lightweight, barely weighing 170 pounds. He has never won a title fight in his entire anemic political career. And in this corner, the entire GOP fat cats and most of America, salivating at [...]

Health care on a freemium pricing model

by Rufus on September 9, 2009

I was listening to Gary Vaynerchuk* yesterday deliver a talk to publishers and indie bookstore owners. At some point in the talk, he encourages everyone to have some sort of freemium pricing model. That got parked in the furrows of my brain. What if we had a freemium pricing model for health care? When you [...]

Grow up and buy your own insurance

by Rufus on September 2, 2009

VIDEO: Rep. Jenkins Laughs at Uninsured Single Mother, Son Grow up and buy insurance that is not available and not affordable if it was. Grow up and buy insurance that will increase your premiums 30%+ a year, not cover your basic needs without a high deductible and drop you when you dip into it. Rep. [...]

Regardless of what health reform laws pass in the next several months, health insurance companies will still be ok. They will find ways of continuing to extract premiums from business and individuals all the while maintaining their profit margins and paying fewer claims. How do I know this? I’m watching the credit card companies. Last [...]

Socialist Denmark bad?

by Rufus on August 22, 2009

I’m having a tough time trying to figure out what is so bad about socialist medicine. Health care only 9.8% of GDP, more doctors per capita, Danes are not dying in the streets (very healthy people, I have a few relatives there!)

Chris Matthews is brilliant

by Rufus on August 20, 2009

Chris Matthews had John Velleco from the Gun Owners of America on Hardball yesterday. The interview was all about people bringing loaded weapons to presidential events, but he did something probably ad lib at the end of the interview (10:50 or so) that was brilliant. He asked an off the cuff question about whether or [...]

How will you pay for health care??

by Charlie on August 17, 2009

How will you pay for your marriage? Yet, you still go out and have a wedding. How will you pay for kids? Yet, you still get pregnant. How will you pay for {insert life event here} Yet, we still do all these things. Most of the time, we do without a plan to pay for [...]

Keith Olbermann illustrates the current health insurance issue more succinctly than I ever could. Watch at least through 1:45 for the important stuff. The rest is a rant, but a very good rant, filled with a lot of details and dollars. The argument is not about socialism; it is about for-profit corporations playing with our [...]

Health care debate and I am fed up

by Charlie on July 29, 2009

I am fed up with the baseless slinging of “facts” by pundits and people of opinion of all sides of the national health care debate. Last night on MSNBC (I think the Rachel Maddow Show), I heard a women ask the president if the health care plan will force old people to disclose how they [...]

The great health care debate

by Charlie on July 23, 2009

Jump on Twitter to get reactions to President Obama’s press conference yesterday. Almost immediately, folks started tweeted out things about the cost of care, the fact that they don’t want to pay for poor people to be covered, etc, etc. Here is MY take on the whole thing. I buy my own health care coverage [...]

I think that if you don’t already know that name and you care about the health care debate in this country, you should take a few minutes to read up on him. He is rather easy to find. His blog is here. As the health care debate heats up over the next year or so [...]
