Senator Al Franken was being watched today during the hearing for Sonja Sotomayor. At the conclusion of his questioning, he brought Perry Mason back around and asked the judge if she remembered the episode where he lost the case.
Regardless of her answer, the nature of the exchange allowed Franken to exhibit Sotomayor’s humanity and warmness in stark contrast to Lindsey Graham’s “angry, hot-blooded Latina” characterization. Somewhat clever.
Think he planned that? So do I.
Now, guess what the talk shows and cable news channels will be talking about? Perry Mason and Al Franken. And Sotomayor’s warm personality.
