Anna Nichole Smith Confusion

Comments Off

I am confused. Is ANS a national hero? Has she solved world peace or bombed a sovereign nation? Has she cured cancer? What has this woman done except posed in Playboy, married a billionaire, made a reality show on E! and flashed everyone in Australia? Given the INCREDIBLE amount of coverage on ALL the networks, broadcast, cable and Internet, you would think that we have just lost one of the best and the brightest our society has to offer.

How are we supposed to now mark her death? Do we lower the flag to half-staff? What if we just attached a large bra to a flagpole and lowered that to half-staff?

You humans are really a funny species. Thousands die in Darfur every month. The same with Iraq. Thousands of Americans die each year from the effects of poverty in the richest county in the world and what do you use your public trust of the media for? A debate over a bubble-headed, bleach-blonde, artificially-enhanced, silicon-injected piece of eye candy. Wow. So glad I’m a dog and TV is just plain boring to me.

Gotta take a nap so that I am ready for my afternoon walk now.

robin 711793 Spring is coming
It’s official, spring is coming. We saw a robin chirping on the snow during our afternoon walk! (Not the robin here, but just in case you forgot what one looks like in this cold, we put one up.)

My fifteen minutes of fame

My fifteen minutes of fame
Thursday, February 1st, 2007 07:01:27 AM

Well, it finally happened! I’m famous, at least for the next fifteen minutes. So, I thought I would take this space to shout out to the various places and folks that got a mention in my article! (Dayton Daily News, Neighbors Northwest, page 1.) Tim Hortons, Rivershark, Inc., TourneyCental, and our very, very Special Olympics Polar Plunge that you should pledge, even if it is only a buck. Please folks, this is a really, really important and fun event. So pledge!! And if you want to come out and plunge, give Rufus a call at 937-836-6255.

And of course, a link back to the DDN at www.daytondailynews.com (or at our soccer page here.)

Well, that is about all of my fifteen minutes, so go back to your lives, read some more articles and get yourself addicted to blogs. They’re fun to read; fun to write.. (except for that space bar.. I don’t have thumbs and it is hard to hit…)

Baby, it’s cold outside

Comments Off

Not a whole lot of thinking going on during the walk with the face mask over my nose and mouth and navigating the walks like looking through a periscope. Rufus is having fun, but he was built for cold weather.

The medication is clearing up the nerve pinch in his leg. He hops right up in the van seat the last couple of days. That’s good!

Will the real Republicans please stand up?

Comments Off

I was listening to the well-paid Fox News folks on Saturday who have health insurance, paid vacation, etc. talking about the health insurance problem in these United States. The topic of fully-employed people having to get their own health insurance because their employers could no longer afford to provide it came up and the undertones were definitely against the employers! What??!?? When did this happen? Excuse me, but if you are going to be a true Republican and claim to have an intimate understanding of the REAL health insurance problem in the US, quit your regular-paying job, build your own company and get your own insurance policy. Until you have scraped and clawed down that ugly, rocky road, don’t claim that you know what is wrong with health care in America! If you do, you’re just a Liberal in a mask, scared to live by the dogma you spew. Relying on an “entitlement” program is the same whether provided by the state or your employer.

Bumper sticker

Comments Off

Today, we saw a bumper sticker that will probably be the philosophy for the rest of my life! Here it goes:

Don’t worry about what other people think. Odds are, they don’t do it very often.

So, go out, pee on a tree, sniff a butt or two. And don’t worry about what others think of you while you’re doing it.. (and for you humans out there, please don’t pee and sniff literally… that is what we dogs call a METAPHOR!! Bev.. you know I’m talking to you.)

New Year’s Resolution

Comments Off

This year, Rufus has resolved to learn at least one new skill every day… and to wake up early, learn it in the morning so he can take the rest of the day off.

Happy New Year!!
